About

Daily, I’m running School of Good Services, helping organisations understand how to design and deliver Good Services and making a film about the homophobic legislation, Section 28.

In 2009 I co-founded Snook.

Snook is an award winning global design consultancy based in London and Glasgow supporting organisations to design and deliver services fit for the 21st century. They focus on designing a world where people and planet can thrive.

From 2019 – 2021 I was the CDO at NEC UK.

I know some things about service design, running and scaling businesses, managing change, strategy development and social innovation. I coach and mentor executives and organisations in these themes.

I’ve co-founded initiatives that do good things from challenging the relationship between state and citizen to providing platforms for young people to learn new skills, these include;

Snook, MyPolice , CycleHack, Dearest Scotland, Alloa Pride, The Matter, Mental Health Design Pattern Library.

Some people have been nice and recognised this work.

I was awarded a Google Fellowship for my work in technology and democratic innovation and named as Good magazine’s 100 extraordinary individuals tackling global issues in creative ways.

Nesta and the UK’s mainstream publication the Observer named me as a New Radical, charting individuals who are tackling society’s biggest challenges.

The Glasgow School of Art gave me an honorary doctorate for services to design in 2019, making me a ‘DR’.

I’m a proud Scottish Government appointed board member of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and ex-trustee of the mental health charity WithYou and Settle, who are dedicated to tackling the causes of youth homelessness.

In my spare time I write, direct and produce films, get lost in soundscape creation and spin tunes under the name DJ Drummond Base.
